Student identity cards

All enrolled students must have a current UTS student identity card.

Your student identity card:

  • must be carried at all times whilst on University premises
  • may be required to be produced on demand by an employee of the University
  • will carry the travel concession logo for eligible (domestic full-time) students
  • must be presented:
    • when borrowing books from the University Library
    • when accessing the computer labs
    • to gain entry to examination rooms

As part of your initial enrollment all current award students, excluding non-award, exchange and study abroad, should receive a perpetual student identity card which is valid for the term of your study at UTS.

The way your student identity card is issued depends on the type of student you are:

  • New students who attend an enrolment session

You will have your photo taken and be given your student id card when you attend your enrolment session. Please ensure that you bring a form of photo ID such as passport, Australian drivers licence or proof of age card so that your identity can be verified.

  • New students who enrol online

Once you've completed all registration steps on the Start website and you have been admitted to your course and enrolled into subjects, you can pick up your student card from your Student Centre.

Kuring-gai students can get their student card from the Kuring-gai Library.

  • Distance and offshore students

You need to apply to have your ID card posted to you. Please complete the Student identity card application for distance/offshore mode form located on the SAU Forms page.

  • Postgraduate research students

The Graduate Research School will coordinate the issue of your student identity card with you, after your enrolment has been completed.

  • Graduate conversion course in accounting (GCCA) students

The School of Accounting will give you an authorisation form when you enrol.

Take the form to the Building 5 Student Centre and they will issue you with a GCCA student identity card.

  • Executive development students

The Executive Development Unit will give you an authorisation form when you enrol.

Take the form to the Building 5 Student Centre and they will issue you with a EDU student identity card.

All enrolled students must have a current UTS student identity card.

If you have misplaced your student identity card you must apply for a replacement, at the earliest practicable opportunity. An administrative charge is payable.

You are obliged to return your student identity card to the University if you:

  • take a leave of absence,
  • cease to attend, or
  • withdraw from your UTS studies.
