Tax file number (TFN)

Any student requesting a HELP loan must declare a valid tax file number (TFN) on their Commonwealth assistance form (CAF).

You may have your enrolment cancelled if you are required to provide a valid TFN and you:

  • fail to do so, or
  • you provide an invalid or false TFN.

Applying for your TFN

If you don't have a TFN you need to apply for one with the Australian Taxation Office.

The Australian Taxation Office website contains further information on applying for a TFN (opens an external site).
