The table above shows the student tuition fee contribution amounts that apply to most Commonwealth Supported students, studying at UTS, in 2012.
However, you may be covered by different student tuition fee contribution amounts for:
- accounting, administration commerce, economics; and/or
- mathematics, statistics and science; and/or
- nursing and education
depending on when you commenced your current course of study, and whether you transfer from a Non Natural and Physical Sciences (Non-NPS) course of study to a Natural and Physical Sciences (NPS) course of study.
Commenced in 2009 (Pre-2010)
If you commenced your course of study before 01 January 2010 and were a commonwealth supported student for a subject in that course you continue to be eligible for the reduced student tuition fee contribution amount of $4,520 (national priority rate) for Education and Nursing subjects.
You are considered to be Pre-2010 for a unit of study if:
- you commenced a course of study before 1 January 2010 and were commonwealth supported in relation to that unit; and
- you did not complete the course before 31 December 2009, or if you did complete the course it was:
- an enabling course or
- the related course for an honours course of study you are now undertaking.
Commenced in 2008 (Pre-2009)
If you commenced your course of study before 1 January 2009 you will continue to be liable for the student tuition fee contribution amount of $8,050 (Band 2) for units of study in mathematics, statistics or science in 2012. You are not eligible for the reduced National Priority rate.
You are considered to be 'Pre-2009' if you enrol in any maths, statistics or science subjects that form part of a course of study that you:
- commenced before 1 January 2009; or
- transfer into a course of study after 2009, from an incomplete course of study commenced prior to 2009 (with the exception of Non-NPS to NPS transfers)
Transferring from a Non-NPS course to a NPS course in 2012
If you are a continuing student who commenced studying prior to 2009, in a Non Natural and Physical Sciences (Non-NPS) course of study which you have not completed, and on or after 1 January 2009 you transfer to a Natural and Physical Sciences (NPS) course of study, you are eligible for the reduced student tuition fee contribution amount of $4,520 (National priorities) for any mathematics, statistics or science subject in 2012.
Note: Students covered by these arrangements, who commenced their original course prior to 2008, may also be eligible for 'Pre-2008' status in relation to accounting, administration commerce and economics subjects.
Commenced 2007 or earlier (Pre-2008)
If you commenced your course of study before 2008, and did not complete it by 31 December 2007, you are covered by the transitional arrangements known as 'Pre-2008'. These arrangements allow you to continue to be eligible for the reduced student tuition fee contribution amount of $8,050 (Band 2) for units of study in accounting, administration commerce and economics, in 2012.
You are considered to be Pre-2008 for a unit of study if:
- you commenced a course of study before 1 January 2008 and were commonwealth supported in relation to that unit; and
- you did not complete that course by 31 December 2007, or if you did complete the course it was:
- an enabling course undertaken in 2007; or
- the related course for an honours course of study you are now undertaking.
The transitional arrangements apply until the end of 2012.
