Review of final subject assessment result
The only grounds for review of a final overall result in a subject are that there were procedural irregularities in the determination of the result. (Rule 8.6.1 )
The only issues that will be considered are those where there is documentary evidence of an administrative error or irregularity. Inaction by a student to consult an adviser to raise concerns and issues during the teaching period (including the examination period) will not be accepted as grounds for review of a final assessment result.
To apply for a review you need to:
Write to the Registrar
Your letter must:
- be addressed to the Registrar,
- be either typed or written in black or blue ink
- explain:
- the procedural irregularities;
- why you were prevented from taking action during the teaching period (including the examination period) to seek help about the issue/s before the release of final results;
- how the alleged procedural irregularities may have influenced the final assessment result for the subject.
Attach your letter to the application form
Relevant documentation must be attached to support your application. Do not resubmit documentation that has been previously submitted during the teaching period. It will not be accepted. If your application is incomplete it will be returned to you and it will not be considered.
Your application for review must be submitted to the relevant Student Centre no later than 10 working days after the date of official release of results.
What happens next
The Student Administration Unit will send your application to the relevant faculty (that is the faculty that offers the subject). Your application will be considered by the faculty's Student Assessment Review Committee (Rule 8.6.2). The Responsible Academic Officer will notify you in writing as soon as possible of all decisions and actions taken in relation to the committee’s findings. It takes between two to three weeks for an application to be considered.
Students with an exclusion notice
Students wishing to lodge a review of final subject assessment result who have received an exclusion notice for poor academic performance must lodge their:
- appeal against exclusion, as well as
- their request for review of final subject assessment result.
