Subject activities preference-entry period
During the preference-entry period My Subject Activities lets you browse available timeslots for any subject activities where there is a choice to be made and you can put in preferences for different times.
At the completion of the preference-entry period My Subject Activities registers you in activities based on your preferences and, where possible, generates your own clash-free personal timetable.
Once the system has sorted all preferences you will find your allocated activities by clicking on 'My Allocations' in My Subject Activities, this is the allocation-adjustment period.
Your preferences
My Subject Activities will place you in classes based on preferences you indicate. While it can not be guaranteed that you will be provided with your first preferences, your preferences will be considered equally with others, the aim is providing a "best-fit" timetable for all.
Allocations are not assigned on a "first come first served" basis. All preferences for all activities associated with all subjects will be collected equally during the preference-entry period, regardless of when in that period the preference was entered. You have as much chance of getting your first preferences whether you enter them on the first or the last day of the preference-entry period.
The number of preferences required to be entered vary from activity to activity. Your preferences must be numbered sequentially, with '1' indicating your most preferred option.
A percentage value is displayed against each activity that indicates the popularity of that activity's timeslot. The higher the percentage, the more popular the timeslot is and the more students who have nominated it as a higher preference. Similarly, the lower the percentage the less students have nominated that timeslot as one of their higher preferences. Higher preference selection of timeslots with lower percentages is more likely to increase your chance of being placed in that timeslot.
Once you have entered your preferences, you can view them by clicking on each activity. To see the preferences you have entered for all of your activities, click on the 'My Preferences' link at the top of the page. You can print this page.
You can change your preferences as many times as you like whilst you can see your preferences on the 'My Preferences' screen.
Class not required
If the subject you are enrolling in does not have any on-campus subject activities, for example a subject offered in distance mode or a project or offshore subject then you will be registered into an activity called class not required,
You do not need to register activities for subjects with a code of CNR (class not required).
The system will scheduled it for midnight Sunday night, to ensure you get registered in at least one activity in every subject.
